MithrilMaid Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Just browsing online and my friend found this on Dressage Unlimited. http://www.dressageunltd.com/profiles/zebra/0518pass.htm Does anybody have any more info on this? I didn't think it was really a true zebra... it looks too big and bulky. Is it?
Itchysmomm Report post Posted August 16, 2006 I'm sorry but that picture is so photoshopped it funny! I take that back It was a costum contest as the article says: quote: This competition has been the most fun, being designed as" Kurs in Costume", with all the takings going to charity. spacytracy Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Aside from that, is that person dressed in blackface?!?!? Look at the difference in skintone from face to arms...if so...holy offensive!!!
MithrilMaid Report post Posted August 16, 2006 That's what I thought! It says "yes it's a real Zebra".... but jeez look at that butt!! and I do think that person is in black face...... Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is weird! lol
cvm2002 Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Not a real zebra. Look at the tail. Obviously braided which tells us its a horse; zebras have tails similar to donkeys with only the "tuft" at the end. Also, the stripes will extend down the dock. Also look at the points of the hock: pure black with no stripes; the stripes don't start until below the hock. saudimack Report post Posted August 16, 2006 lol Dang guys! That's paint Not too hard to figure out! It's odd though how they put a black persons face on a white persons body.. LOL
bucklebunny Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Painted bay! Way too big to be a zebra. I think the article says it's a Hanovarian, didn't read the article too close tho!
Rhiatta1090 Report post Posted August 16, 2006 I was at a reining show, and they painted a mare to look like a zebra. Very flashy, but they forgot to go all the way up under her mane(so when she cantered and the wind blew the stripes would stop where her mane ended). It was fun to see, but we all new it was just a good ol' grey QH with a nice paint job.

Racism still runs quite rampant there. I bet at a white equestrian event, the black face was a non issue.

".He taught her so much, and she now has a wonderful young Hanoverian, much more correctly conformed for dressage, who I am sure will take her to medium and beyond." It could also be a Zebra crossed with a horse. Has the zebra pattern and the horse height and tail and all. It could also be painted. but that it weird with what they did to the riders face. luvs2ride79 Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Zebras don't have white socks, or smudges in their white where the rider's calf is on their side, LOL. Zebras are also not that big. I would guess this is a tounge-in-cheek article. ~Barbara

ETA: The dressage "zebra" also has white feet! You can see it best in the backs ~Barbara [ 08-16-2006, 01:49 AM: Message edited by: luvs2ride79 ]
Rambaldi Report post Posted August 16, 2006 lol you guys, that show took place aaaaaages ago. I have the magazine in which the atricle was published. Obviously it isn't a zebra, just a very well painted horse and yes, it is a white person with a painted face. I don't recall the reason for the painted face but no, we didn't find it offensive

Guest Report post Posted August 16, 2006 Way to big and fat to be a Zebra, Zebra's have the conformation more like Donkey's than horses you can so tell that is NOT A ZEBRA LOL [ 08-16-2006, 10:24 AM: Message edited by: PALOMINOLADY ]

Hola Report post Posted August 16, 2006 because they are incredibly hard to tame. cannot be left idle for any amount of time and really are like no other equine... even little things like how to praise them is different. plus if they arent raised right from birth they can be incredibly vicious. they are a wild animal... Hola Report post Posted August 16, 2006 well it depends on what your talking about... have i worked with a Zebra , yup have i worked with a Zebra hybrid , yup would i ever tell a person or help a person attain one of the above. NOPE they are a bigger hassle then they are worth. best to just leave them in Africa and enjoy them as they are...
