Need Input/Advice.. Last Farrier Visit..

Recommended Posts

I know there are some knowledgeable people on here, so I would like to ask for your input.

With a correctly trimmed hoof, should the frog touch the ground?

My farrier came out about a week and a half ago, and I think he trimmed my horse too short.

He's always done a good job for me, and from the outside, my horse's feet have never looked better.. BUT, upon further inspection, I was not pleased. It seems the frog extends further than the sole, so the frog would be hitting the ground first... Is this proper? It is only on this gelding (the others are fine), and he seemed tender after the trim. The ground is very hard, so he is still a little sore.

What do you think?
