"This land is flat as it is mean.

-Dierks Bently

Welcome to Falcon, Colorado. A lovely little town right smack-dab in the middle of nowhere. It is in the plains outside Colorado Springs, and is enveloped by rolling hills of dirt and small tufts of grass. The town of Falcon is growing steadily, but it's still very very small. There are a few tack shops, plenty of stables, a WalMart, a SafeWay, some small restraunts, a Sonic, a Walgreens, a KFC/A&W, and a few banks and gas stations.

Life in Falcon is very easy-going. People are far more relaxed than those city-folk and live in the moment. Although there are no night clubs, garage parties and barbeques are raging almost every night. Everyone is more friendly, and life is far more simple.

Basically, this is just a regular country life style Role Play.

RULES

-Romance is welcomed

-No PP, GM, or MS.

-Regular HC and RPG rules

-You don't have to have a horse, but you can have them if you want to

Shiloh Parkens

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Personality: Shiloh?s pretty outgoing for the small town girl she is. She?s not afraid to make a fool out of herself and loves to make people laugh, even if it?s at her. She?s the kind of irresistible person that everyone wants to be friends with, because there?s something about her that attracts people to her, whether it be her looks, her confidence, her personality, or the glow about her. She?s extremely friendly and usually fails to see the negative in people, which gets her into trouble sometimes. She lives to have fun.

Subdivision: Shiloh doesn?t live in a subdivision, but rather a large, old house right outside of the Blue Sage neighborhood. The house is several decades old, but a lot bigger then many of the houses in the area. Shiloh?s family also owns 50 surrounding acres and have a barn and many horses, as well as allow others to keep their horses their for a cheaper price then many of the other barns, because it?s private and doesn?t offer lessons.

Looks: Shiloh?s quite the stunner. She has long, dark brown hair. It?s straight, although if she has the time and feels like it, she?ll curl it. She also has side bangs and natural highlights, colors ranging. Her eyes are rare, one a piercing blue and the other a just as stunning green. Both colors are unique with her dark hair color but the different colors make them even rarer. Her dark hair has been dyed, only the under part however. A shockingly bright shade of blue can be found when she pulls her hair into a ponytail or bun. She stands about 5?5? and is very slender, but she doesn?t lack the curves all the guys love.

Picture: None. Read above. :]

Other: I never know what to put in the others. She?s single?

Horse

(she has a couple but I?m just gonna put her main one)

Name: Best Kept Secret ?Rettie?

Age: 8

Gender: Mare

Breed: Holsteiner

Personality: Rettie is a very quirky horse. Many people think she?s mean and don?t like handling her, but it?s more of she?s mouthy and likes to play. She doesn?t understand that she?s a 17.2 hand horse and not your puppy dog. She adores attention and when ridden has quite the attitude. She likes to buck around and be a cow for a while, some rides there won?t be anything and the next she?ll dump you every five minutes. She?s a challenge, but when you get her going nice, the mare jumps like some of the top hunter and equitation horses and is braver then some of the top eventing horses.

Discipline: Jumpers, along with a little equitation, hunters, and eventing. Whatever they feel like doing.

Looks: See Picture. Dapple Gray.

Other: Nothing.

Breed: Golden Retriever

Personality: Amber is a bundle of energy, constantly wanting outside to run around and play. Her absolute favorites are fetch and tug-o-war. She also enjoys the days Shiloh brings her down to the lake to let her swim and play in the water. She adores people, so she isn?t much of a watch dog.

Looks: Uh, a golden retriever puppy.

David

Though it was only fairly early during the day, around eight to be exact, David Hemmings was already busy at work. Having already fed the horses that boarded at his parents exclusive 12 stall barn, it was quite nice to say the least. The horses that were kept indoors had fans and well kept bedded stalls that were cleaned weekly by David and his sister. The concrete floor was seemlessly bare with no traces of astray hay, feces, or amid bedding. The welcoming smell of alphafa greeted David as he finished the last of the morning chores a acomplished smile fixed smugly on his face. Hearing the horses whinnies of approval, David simply chuckled as he walked down the asile past the vacent wash rack and departed outside where the fenced arena was located. His parents had worked hard for this arena to be accomplished, with hard labor from his carpenter father and himself accompanying him, it had turned into a masterpiece. Well to David anyways. There were evenly distributed jumps that varied in size and height, perfect for any hunter or jumper to practice on.

Resting his arms on the white fence that circumferenced the arena, he exhaled a sigh of relief letting his blue eyes wander amiss across the green pastures that lay across from the only ring they had. Letting his thoughts go along with his gaze he wondered where exactly his younger sister had gone too, but figuring best she was still out running, somewhere, in the pastures. Knowing that he would have to tack up Ascot, whom he shared with his parents and his sibling, David figured best he would wait until someone showed up to ride. To Davids preference he enjoyed another compainion to ride with as he always found it quite boring to ride by himself. Shifting his weight as he still casually leaned on the railing for support, pulled out from his belt the cell phone. He then let his fingers do all the work as he typed out the message to his friend Shiloh. Hey you, I'm fixing to ride Ascot. Come on over to the barn he finished pushing the send button with ease before slipping it back into the crevice oh his belt. Hopefully she would be arriving soon as the weather was great and he needed to work Ascot over jumps.

Different colored eyes stared blankly out into an open field, not noticing the stunning scenery and what seemed like miles of flat land. Seventeen year old Shiloh's mind was elsewhere, not focusing on where she was or what she was doing at all. The sudden vibrating and singing that came from the cell phone in her back pocket surprised her, sending her daydreams away. Eyes blinked several times as her right hand reached back to her pocket and pulled the phone out. She knew by the specific ringtone that it was a text, so she wasn't in as big of a hurry to answer the phone. It took a matter of seconds to read the short text, from David. He was a friend of her's, he lived nearby and the two often rode together. Their horses got along fairly well and both had nice rings filled with jumps to ride it, so they switched off where they rode to keep their horses on their toes.

Sighing, Shiloh hit reply and quickly texted him back. Haha, okay. I'll be there in a bit. Turning on her heel, she was greatful she had gotten herself ready to ride earlier, that way it wouldn't take as long to get over to David's. Lucky for her, her mare, Rettie, was still inside from eating her breakfast earlier that morning. The mare stomped impatiently and kicked at the door. Rolling her eyes, she ignored the mare's antics as she unlocked and opened the door. The dappled horse greeted her at the door, ears flicked backwards as she shoved her head into the leather halter and tried making her way out the door. "Knock it off cow," she hissed at the mare, pushing her back a couple steps so she could clip the halter and open the stall door all the way. Once done, she led the mare out and clipped her into the cross ties.

Grooming was quick and easy, surprisingly, as the horse had been blessed with a gray coat, darker dapples on her legs, hind quarters, and neck, but most of the horses body was very lightly flea bitten, mane and tail were black. Through the entire process of tacking up, Rettie acted up, pinning her ears and playfully nipping at the navy polo Shiloh was wearing. Knowing that the mare just wanted to play, she ignored it and tacked her up. A navy saddle pad was put on, along with her half pad and Tad Coffin saddle. Girth was put on, but not tightened all the way as Shiloh knew the mare could get a bit girthy, particularly when in the cross ties. Boots were put on the horse's legs, along with bell boots on the front feet. It wasn't long before Shiloh was putting her spurs and IRH helmet on. Rettie's big brown eyes staring down at her, impatiently waiting. Supple leather bridle was picked up and put on the mare head, leaving the halter on a closed tack box. For once, the mare stood quietly, leaving her head lower so that Shiloh didn't have as much trouble getting everything situated. The figure eight noseband was tightened last and then the reins flipped over the 17.2 hand mare's head.

"Let's go nerd," gloves were slid on to tanned hands as Shiloh walked the horse out of the barn. A mounting block waited outside and aided her in mounting the horse. The ride to David's was about ten minutes, if that. It allowed her to attempt to get the horse to settle a bit before getting to work. Of course with Rettie, anything was possible. The ride over went fairly well, walking and trotting as a bit of warm up and to see how the mare was behaving. So far, the horse was soft through the bridle and came down, lifting her back and stretching into the bridle. She was tracking up nicely and carrying herself well. Pleased with how the ride had started, Shiloh allowed the mare to drop back down to a walk, moving freely, as she held the reins by the buckle.

They reached David's and Shiloh's two-colored eyes scanned for him, looking for his vivid blue eyes and warm smile, she wasn't going to lie. He was attractive. Shiloh decided it would be best to stay mounted on the horse, knowing Rettie often turned bipolar if you mounted and dismounted too much in one ride. "Daviddddddd," her voice carried effortlessly through the barn and the property. She knew that if she really wanted to find him, she probably could, but she was much too lazy.

As David read the replied text that had shown up on his cell screen, a small smile played on his lips as he closed the cell shut. Knowing at his best that his friend,Shiloh, would be here in about twenty or so minutes-depending on how her mare behaved- David figured he needed to tack up his warmblood fairly quickly. Turning lightly on his heels, which his sister always teased about, David set forth at a short brisk jog back into the well lit stalls until he halted shortly after next to a stall entitled Ascot. Seeing his compainion nicker in a kind greeting towards him, David gave a nod of greeting to his horse now using both hands to slide open the mahogany wooden door almost being bombarded by a face full of Ascot.

"Geeze Ascot" David pleaded in response to the large equines antics that always seemed to be different everytime he came for his beloved horse. This time, however, David should have known what was coming as the geldings head and neck collided harshly with his chest which now david groped for the leather halter. "Alright buddy its good to see you too" he said hastily giving a firm pat to the warmblood who took kindly to the gesture, his eyes looking innocent as if he had done nothing wrong with that gesture. Leading him out to the cross ties that were thankfully located just next door to Ascots home, with not much hassle-thankfully- David got Ascot situated comfertably. Though seeing the look that Ascot gave him, one of which was his many emotions, David grabbed the brushes and began working. With deep massaging circular movements, Davids blue eyes could distinguish that his gelding simply enjoyed this as the warmbloods pink tounge was lolling out of his mouth. Shaking his head in a comical gesture, David then grabbed his navy blue saddle pad that almost matched his ecentric eyes perfectly and adding the wither relief and his saddle right on top of it. Thankfully that Ascot wasn't playing any of his games while David dispersed to grab the girth and happy mouth bit, coming back to have easily finished up the last of the tack.

As David led his horse into the asile, he could distinguish a cooing sound of his name. Knowing exactly where that source came from David hurried his pace, the reins gripped firmly in his gloved hand, the warmblood hastily following his owners gait. "Hey there Shiloh!" David greeted kindly to his friend who was abroad her dappled mare, " I knew it was you" he finished with one of his smiles that any girl would enjoy. He had to admit, that shiloh was an attractive girl none the less. Throwing the reins over his boys head, noticing out of the corner of his eye that Ascot had his attention diverted to Rettie his ears pricked and nostrils flared. " Stop that buddy" he said with a chuckle, eyeing Shiloh as he mounted noting that she may have saw Ascots flirty attention. "Ready?" David questioned cheerily as he grabbed the reins in his gloved hands, not even having to give a squeeze to the horse he mounted. Letting Ascot walk, quite briskly, David sweetly giving the gelding a few 'whoahs' every now and again under his breath. Now entering the quiet arena, his eyes swiftly scanned the area that they had entered now looking at shiloh. Whenever she was ready to begin, he would follow right behind her.

Mike was up and early getting in the first cut of Hay. He had been up since 5am, getting an early start before the hot of the day. He had sweat rolling down his forehead and his hands were getting clammy. It was another day of letting the hay sit, and loading hay onto people's trailers for their horses. Mike and his wife owned 100 acres, most of it for Growing hay and there three horses. They found very little time to commit to their horses. On days where there was time, they spent the day working with the horses. Ever since Two years ago, when they had a herd of 12, they had Teens and kids down the road work with their horses, then found that the kids became attached. They offered a price of the horse to the kids.

Kristi was the one who owned the horses. Her husband supported her and grew the hay for the small town they lived in. The stuck signs up at the end of their road. Grass Hay 4 Sale. The signs showed which way to their house. Kristi was sitting on the porch, drinking her morning cup of tea, her dog, Riot, laying by her feet. The horses ate their hay. Lucky in one pen, and Rose with her colt Zipper in another. Zipper had grown to be a huge 6 month old. Both of the elderly people found no time to work with him, with how Mike grew the hay, trimmed and shod horses, and Kristi running their tack shop All Around Leather.

Lucky looked up, snorting. He pranced to the end of his pen, then took off back to the other side, snorting and kicking up a storm. He stopped, looking back to the large machine in the field, eating the grass. He tossed his head. Zipper looked up, whinning, then trotting off to the end of his pen to check it out. One tough little colt. He looked to his Dam, then trotted back over to continue his meal.

Alarm clock went off, turning over. Hutch mainaged the push the snooze botton once more, he signed. Rubbing his eyes he layed there for a moment thinking, both Rex and King jumped on the bed onto hutch. A slight laugh came from him before raising up and looking to rex. He slightly smiled before speaking to him in a whispering tone " You better today boy?" blue eyes looked to the red collie before looking to the clock. If only he didnt stay up late last night he would have been already working with the horses. But Rex was having problems breathing, and there was no way hutch would push that aside. Throwing the covers off him, hutch jumped outta bed and walked to his closet. Grabbing his wranglers, roper boots, bull riding belt buckle and white T, he began getting dressed. Both dogs had already ran into the living room, waiting by the door. Walking out of his room, hutch grabbed his black velvet stetson hat. Walking outta the house he whistled for both dogs before locking the door.

About a minute later they walked into the barn. Today, Hutch would work with black first to warm him up on Reining and Calf roping before working with Chaos. He walked to the end of the barn, turning in front of Blacks stall. A smile painted itself apon his face as he stood there stroking the ebony brutes face. At this point, hutch saw no one he knew. All he was mainly focused on was Black and the dogs, opening the stall door. He grabbed the black lead and clipped it to black's gold halter, he spoke to the ebony brute in a whispering tone. Letting him know it was fine and to remain calm, hutch and black both had attitude problems, but they both had a great relationship between them. Almost like black was raised by Hutch, walking him outside. Hand opened, dropping the lead. Walking away, he grabbed the tack. There was no worries with black, not at the moment. The brute knew, when to remain in place and when to go.

After grabbing everything he needed, Hutch brushed black down well good then threw the blanket onto his back before continueing to tack him up. Moments later, hutch was walking black around, Rex and King in tow watching the horses every movements. Blue eyes never cut towards Shiloh or David, they only stayed focused on the arena he was headed to. Opening the gate, hutch mounted the quarter horse. Clicking his tongue, they both entered.

Reining was first, which ment Tyler wasnt worried about closing the gate, but knowing how some people were. It would probably be best before anything was started, my boy hopped off once more. Jogging towards the gate he closed it, turning around he walked back to Black. Seemed like alot of work was to be done. Getting settled into the saddle, hutch pushed slight pressure on blacks sides. Swinging the reins, the horse already knew. Massive muscles ripped under the jet black pelt of he horse as he loped around the arena. Warming up at first before any hard work was done. After a couple minutes, hutch clicked his tongue and applied pressure once more. Black straightend up as he went into a full gallop, easily pulling on the reins. Rear was lowered to the ground, sending the horse and hutch into a perfect slide.

Turquoise and havana Ariat cowboy boots made their way down the aisle of the Flint's barn, making very little noise in the dirt. They stopped in front of the dry-erase board. Young Kylie Flint poured over the note her father had left her. Kylie, before you go out today please muck Bango's stall. I didn't have time. -Dad The teen sighed and grabbed the handles of the wheelbarrow next to her. "You know, it's his horse. He should muck him horse's stall," she mumbled, pushing the barrow down to the end of the aisle and parking it in front of the stall on her left. A hand-painted red and brown nameplate reading "Banjo" hung carefully on the stall door. An enormous liver-chestnut waited inside, and let out a loud whinny when he heard the bolt. Kylie pushed open the stall door and stood to the side as Banjo let himself out. He went down to the other end of the barn and waited patiently for Kylie to open the gate. When she did, he took off galloping over to the other horses in the field, bucking all the way. For being 15 years old, he still had a lot of go to him.

After about half an hour, Kylie was finally finished with Banjo's stall. The sweltering heat didn't make the job any easier, and she was happy to be done. Just as she was exiting the stall, her tall, handsome brother walked into the barn. He wore old Wrangler jeans, a John Deere t-shirt, his favorite cowboy boots, and a black cowboy hat on his head. "Hey Ky," Travis said casually, looking at the muck barrow and not his sister. Upon looking up at her, however, his green eyes widened for a moment, then they seemed to smile. "Going anywhere special today? Seeing any special guy?" Kylie was wearing her favorite torn up denim minishorts and a turquoise spaghetti strap tank, with her cowboy boots and cream cowgirl hat, with her blonde hair in two braids hanging out the back. She stared at him. "No...it's just hot," she said, turning her back on him to roll the muck barrow down to the end of the barn again. "I was thinking about going to hang out with Jake, but I don't consider him anyone special." As if she had initially forgotten, Kylie pulled her cell phone out of her back pocket and sent a quick text to Jake. hey, what are you up to today? After pressing send, she looked back up at her brother, pulling off her stable gloves.

Shiloh couldn't help but chuckle at Ascot as the bay Warmblood perked up at the sight of the mare, the reaction from the mare was typical, curiousity at first but then her ears pinned back as she nipped at the air. Freak. "Yes we are," she said, allowing her mare to step into a brisk walk about David's horse. They followed the pair into the ring before circling, giving one another some space. She walked Rettie around the ring once or twice, giving her a minute to settle in and remember where she was. She wasn't in the mood to deal with bronco Rettie, although that could turn up at any moment. When she felt the horse relaxing, Shiloh shortened the reins ever so slightly and squeezed her on. Rettie stepped into a brisk trot, back hollowed and head high in the air.

"Hey hey," Shiloh words were soft as she closed her fingers around the reins, holding a steady contact with the mare's mouth, pushing her forward with every step. It didn't take long for the mare to understand, her head lowered and back lifted. The mare was carrying herself in more of the 'long and low' fashion, moving in a daisy cutter fashion with her long, flat kneed stride. Her ears were perked forward, but moved about as Rettie listened to what was going on around her. Slowly, Shiloh began circling the mare, starting with half ring circles in either direction and making the circles smaller and smaller as the went. Rettie snorted in disgust but continued, not enjoying having to work to hold herself together.

Once she felt the mare was good and warmed up, she asked her to rock more onto her hindquarters and carry herself more upright, looking for the more 'dressage' type frame. Disagreeing with the request, Rettie showed her annoyance by pinning her ears and crowhopping several times down the long side. Used to the antics, Shiloh stayed glued in the saddle, legs holding tight and heels down, spur not touching the mare's side unless intentional. Giving in, Rettie carried herself more like the typical dressage horse would, however, she was not happy with it. Gray ears were back as she worked, collecting, lengthening, collecting lengthening.

"Good girl," sitting deep in the saddle, Shiloh sat up and back, gently asking the horse to come back to a walk. Rettie listened and pulled her head down and forward with the downward transition, pulling the reins through Shiloh's fingers. She was fine with the mare walking on the buckle for a time or two around the ring, just enough for a breather before getting back to work. They picked up the canter, Shiloh moved with the mare effortlessly in a half seat, the mare's rhythmic strides were easy to ride. They circled a few times and did a couple lead changes, changing directions a couple times to make sure they were good and warmed up. When they were nearing the end of the canter, Rettie decided she had had enough behaving and let out a rather large buck, one that sent even the balanced Shiloh foward. Before allowing her rider to reseat herself, Rettie crowhopped a couple times, hind end kicking out to the side.

Shiloh stayed in the saddle through the mare's misbehavior and corrected it as soon as she was balanced again. They cantered a bit longer until the mare had settled down some before returning to the walk. Blue and green eyes flicked over to David, watching him and his gelding intently.

Rocket snorted, tossing his head before moving into canter and doing as he was told. Kristi stood up and walked into the house to refill her Tea cup with hot Tea. Marissa had bought Rocket as a 4 year old, green broke for quite a chunk of change. She had used the money her grandma gave her for her birthday, and put it together with what she made working at her mom's tack shop. Which reminded her, she had to work in today around noon. After Marissa bought Rocket, she saved money up and sent him to a month of training. Her father put in some money as well.

Watching as Shiloh began her warmup around the ring David decided to stick put from where he was to watch his friend, thankfully Ascot didn't seem to mind standing still his head turned to watch the dappled mare work. Once the pair had finished thier warm-up which ended in a nice fanale of a well difined buck from Rettie, David merely chuckled softly to himself. "Well done!" David boasted from across the arena his voice broad as he gave a "golf clap" though it was muffled from Davids engloved fingers. Noticing that it was his cue to begin, as Shiloh peered over in his direction, he nodded and gathered his reins. Only giving a meer squeeze with his calfs the robust gelding lurched forward bending his head as instructed by Davids cues, which surprisingly David was quite shocked with such a pleased response. Knowing his family's horse, Ascot, he would be good for you one day yet the next it would be matter chaos to get him to follow your aids. As David continued as a steady trot passing the bit through the bays mouth to get him to round, he smiled as the gelding gave a snort in response.

Going once or twice around the arena, passing by Shiloh, he smiled now giving his outside leg pressure to allow Ascot into a canter. It was at that moment that Ascot seemed to bring out the playing equipment from the pressure, almost going into a complete gallop. typical. That was ascot for you. Tightening his reins, David brought the bay under him getting him into a collected canter and with a bit of a fight, ascot obeyed. Slowing him down to a trot, praising his geling with firm pats on his bay pelt, he halted alongside where Shiloh and Rettie had halted eyeing them, before breaking into a smile. "Good ride!" David gestured nodding at Shiloh and Rettie to which Ascot snorted in remarks towards the dappled mare. Only briefly eyeing scot for a second, David shook his head slightly his grin now contorting into a smirk his cheeks already slightly flushed, but not from riding. Letting Scot stay at a slow pace, to keep his blood circulating, David eyed the course that had been set up only deciding that he would do the outside line that consisted of a two foot by two foot wide oxer and a three foot vertical following. What ever Shiloh had planned for Rettie to jump, he would let her do hers first before he did his line. Turning his head to the right signaling Shiloh to go ahead and begin once more; that smile still on his handsome features.

Travis smiled at his sister. "Okay, I'm going to see what Marissa is up to," he called over the sound of the barn fans that Kylie had just turned on. "Catch ya later." He turned on his heel and walked out into the heat, heading for the house. Hey Marissa. Do you have any plans today? After typing the short text, Travis hit send and let himself into the Flint family's two-story home.

Marissa felt her cellphone ring and then vibrate. Her gelding spooked and started small bucking fits. "Rocket, knock it off!" she said, spurring him in the side, turning him in fast circles. She looked to the field to see her Dad still cutting the hay. She got her gelding under control and slid off, holding his rein while pulling her cell out and reading it. She smiled. She replied back. I work at my mom's tack shop 12-4, maybe 5:30 we can do something.... she texted back to Travis. She looked to her Gelding. "The phone is not gonna kill you.." she said, kissing his cheek. Riot jumped off of the porch and barked, then ran off behind the small barn and down the mountain to the rural community below, Blue Sage. He always did that. He came out on the back of the Flint's property and ran into the barn, pass Kylie and into the tack room, sniffing the Bridles. He touched his nose into the tack trunk, flipped it open and grabbed the horse treats, pulling them out, which clunked to the ground, and began to eat them. He had been doing this for a little over 5 days lately.

Travis was jogging up the stairs when he felt his cell phone vibrate in his pocket. He pulled it out, and quickly texted Marissa back. I'd love to give you a ride there if you want, I have to pick some stuff up for Kylie anyway. You're coming to our party tonight, right? The boy had had a thing for Marissa for a while now, but wasn't sure how to tell her. He figured it would come out when it was ready, so he tried to spend as much time with her as possible in the meantime. Walking into his bedroom, Travis pulled off his John Deere shirt and put on a clean white one that had the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo logo and name on the back. He stepped into the bathroom, taking off his cowboy hat and running a comb through his messy blonde hair.

While organizing the supplements in the feed room, Kylie saw a flash of black and white run past the door. Moments later, she heard the sound of her tack trunk shutting and then a bag of treats hitting the floor. "Riot!" she called, laughing as she jogged into the tack room. "Those cost money, you know!" She picked the bag of treats up from in front of the dog's face and set them on the highest shelf. "Try and get them now, silly dog," she said, smiling at him and patting his head. Walking over to the workbench on the far wall of the tack room, Kylie grabbed a dog biscuit out of a jar and tossed it over to Riot. Just then, Kylie and Travis' blue heeler puppy Roper came running into the tack room, sliding to a halt right in front of Kylie. "Fine, you can have one too." She smiled as she handed the puppy a treat, then looked across to Riot. "Now go home, Riot!"

Soon after finishing with black, Hutch dismounted unloosened the saddle and walked him around to cool him off. After allowing him to cool of for about five to six minutes, tyler walked him to the paddock and untacked him. Opening the gate he watched as the brute bolted off to a patch of green grass. He slightly laughted before walking back into the tack room and putting away his stuff, he looked down at King who had barked. He was appearently bored and wanted attention " Later boy." he said, walking into the barn he walked to Chaos stall "Hey boy." he said patting the painted brute, he smiled for a moment before speaking again " Ill get you out later to work with you, right now you can get in your paddock." Opening the stall door, hutch grabbed the halter and lead the painted brute out towards his paddock which was beside black. Both brutes got along, but only in different pens. Opening the gate he watched the younger brute call to black adn run towards him. Hutch shook his head, looking down he looked at Rex, who was watching the horses.... He slightly laughted.

Kylie, still waiting for a text from Jake, decided to see what Hutch was up to. She was exploring her options as far as relationships went, and was hoping something might happen at the party that evening. Pulling her cell phone out of her pocket, she flipped it open and sent Hutch a quick text. hey hutch. what are you up to today? Kylie put the phone back in her pocket and scooped Roper up in her arms, walking out of the tack room and rested herself on the pasture gate. Not too far away, Gracious munched on the remnants of hay that lie near the wall. September was in the middle of the field, lying flat on his side, sunbathing of course. Nashville stood casually under the run-in, sniffing the ground for something to eat. "Gee, Roper, we really need to go over to the Bennett's to get some hay, huh?" Kylie asked the dog who was squirming in her arms. All of a sudden he got loose form her grip and went tearing across the pasture, jumping on September's belly. The Appaloosa jumped up and bucked, missing Roper's head by inches. "Roper! Get over here RIGHT NOW!" Kylie shouted in a firm tone. The puppy stopped bouncing around the angry gelding and came running at full speed back to the barn.

Marissa looked to her phone which vibrated. "that would be nice. I can't drive until another month. A party. I would love to... are your 'rents gonna b there" she texted back. She unsaddled Rocket and cooled him down, then placed him in a one acres pasture. He ripped across the field, bucking and kicking. Placing her tack back in the tack room, Marissa closed the door and walked back up to the house. "Riot, here boy!" she called. "Riot!" she called again. Riot seen the horse snack being pulled away. He looked up to her with sad eyes, then was suddenly given dog treats. His tail wagged faster than he opened the tack trunk. After munching the treat, he took off out of the barn as he heard his name in the distance, as well as being told to go home. He came running up the mountain, threw the pasture and slid under the red fencing towards Marissa. "There you are. What are you doing?" she asked her dog, rolling her eyes.

Her father in the mean time had finished cutting the hay and was going to let it dry out for a few days before pulling it all into nice 65 lb hay bales. He parked his machine in the top of the field and walked up to the house. "Hey Peanut" he said to his daughter. "hey Dad" she said back, siting on the swing outside, Riot by her feet. Mike walked into the house and grabbed a cup of Coffee. After a few minutes, he made his way back out of the house. "I'm running into town real quick to put up our number for hay in the local grocery store and Diner. You stay here and help your mother with the kitchen" he stated and walked to the truck. Riot followed, wagging his tail. Mike opened the door, allowing Riot to ride in the back, then shut the tailgate.

Eyes watched carefully as David cued his bay horse forward and the two began working. The Warmblood was willing and moved easily, carrying himself well. Shiloh had ridden the horse a time or two when they had switched horses just for fun, the gelding was a nice little ride, although at the canter he had his moments. With a horse like Rettie though, it was something she had grown used to. Having a horse with spunk kept things interesting, although there were days when she wanted to just get rid of the mare. Lucky for her, her parents owned several other horses she could ride if she wasn?t in the mood to put up with the mare?s antics.

As David and Ascot dropped down to a walk next to them, Shiloh looked over at them. Neither was breathing terribly hard. She grinned at his words and the gelding?s flirty gestures toward the mare. ?He?s looking good,? the comment was sincere, the gelding had behaved pretty well for David, despite an attempt at a flat out gallop, but that had been fixed only a couple strides in. Noting the nod, she realized he was waiting for her to start jumping Rettie. The dappled mare was getting quite antsy and was side stepping and jigging at the walk, ignoring any effort from Shiloh to keep her straight and quiet. ?Alrighty, this is gonna be interesting,? she smiled, shaking her head as she squeezed the mare on. Rettie understood the leg pressure and light touch of the spur against her side, long legs automatically moving into a smooth canter.

Deciding to start out in half seat, she let the rocking-horse-like canter carry her around the ring, body moving easily with the horse. Shiloh was one of those people that were built to ride and looked natural on a horse no matter what she was doing. Gloved fingers shortened the reins a little as she sat up and back, sitting down more in the saddle. That was a cue for Rettie that they were getting ready to jump. They had gone once around the ring, giving Shiloh enough time to survey the fences and decide what she wanted to start the horse over.

The mare?s long black tail was tossed back and forth with every step she took, a form of entertainment for her. Deciding on a simple two foot vertical, one that was painted red and white, Shiloh turned the mare towards the fence. Ears perked up and the mare?s head rose a bit, but for the most part she stayed in a quiet, calm, consistent canter. Surprisingly, they found a spot they agreed on and took it. Shiloh?s form over fences was one that was envied by many, she was balanced and not a hair ahead or behind her horse, heel remained down and lower leg tight against the mare. She ducked a little, but nothing that was going to kill her or the mare, her release gave the horse just enough over the smaller fence.

They landed easily on the other side and the horse kicked out playfully to the side. Sitting down in the saddle, Shiloh collected the mare?s canter and turned her towards what she had decided would be good. It was another vertical, about six inches taller. This jump was a bit more typical for the two, they disagreed on the spot, Shiloh tried holding for the deeper spot but the mare pulled against her and took the long one. Used to that type of jump, she managed to stay with the gray Warmblood. The landing wasn?t as smooth as the first fence either, Rettie, irritated by the disagreement, showed her disapproval by bucking and crow hopping several times, almost unseating Shiloh, who somehow managed to stay on.

?Freaking bronco,? Shiloh hissed, resisting the urge to cuss the mare out. They circled, allowing them to reorganize before turning to the line David had been eyeing . It was a small oxer to a three foot vertical. They met the oxer a little long, but with a little encouragement from Shiloh, the mare opened her stride a bit and they met the vertical in a good spot. They cleared the fence as they landed out of the line. This time, the mare had to express herself again, and took off on another bucking and crow hopping spree, ending with a small rear before settling back into the bridle in a working canter on a circle. Shaking her head, Shiloh slowed the mare to a trot and then walk next to David and Ascot. ?She?s insane,? she said, different colored eyes meeting David?s bright blue ones.

Watching contently as the duo began thier course, Shiloh working hard and strong to get the mare to what she desired. David had to admit, while watching Rettie, that she certainly loved to gives spins on her owner. He had ridden her a few times, Rettie, knowing that she spun a few kicks now and again just for the pure entertainment. After Shiloh had finished her round, David clapped once more in a manneristic type of way-a thing david was known for to have a few comical things thrown here and there. With an exhale, David noted his cue as Shiloh slowed down, he gathered his reins and this time was prepared for the full hand gallop. Sure enough the gelding benethe him lurched into a quite forceful gallop seeming like he was all that inside the ring. Obviously not.

Giving a few asserting half halts as a signal to slow down, which thankfully Ascot oblidged, David gave one last round around the arena before turning his blue eyes twoards the first jump. The oxer. It wasn't much to say the least, just a baby oxer nothing big, and David knew that the warmblood could take it without a second thought. However, the only gimick that Ascot had up his sleeve was that he loved to jump. If David didn't keep full contact with his equines mouth, the warmblood would simply lurch for the oncoming obstacle. It was like Ascot was addicted to jumps.

Keeping his horse benethe him steady, already cantering down the line, David noticed that the geldings rytmatic beats surged faster but David quickly recovered them back to normal pace. Going over the jump with ease, keeping his two point straight on, with no flaws in equitation except that his leg slipped back a little. Landing smoothly, and thankfully without any surprising cro hops or kicks following, David knew that Ascot was just trying to impress Rettie. Dork. Once landing David quickly gathered up his riens issuing a few half halts again to slow Ascots pace down before coming up next to the baby vertical. Holding his position nearly perfectly, it was then when they landed the warmblood couldn't contain himself. Lurching into a well hearted buck his flank swooping to the left, his head held low just knowing that his owner wouldn't be pleased with his excited antics. David held his position, only going forward as his horse bent his head down, but soon came to a walk, now encircling Shiloh. "Well then!" David exclaimed almost breathless as he recovered from Ascots finale of sorts. " I think this boys had enough, good job with your round" David finished, his tone light and warm, as he shot Shiloh his smile. He couldn't help to look at her everynow and again. He really liked shiloh alot.

Knowing that he should be done for the day, David directed the gelding benthe him towards the exit figuring a cooldown in the green pasture wouldn't be a bad thing. Letting his ecentric eyes move behind him, landing on Shiloh, he gave a nod of his head to follow him hoping that she wouldn't mind a bit of a cool down in the vacent pasture. With a few snorts and heavy breathing issuing forth from Ascot, David just merely chuckled shaking his head slightly, " That wasn't even hard boy" he retored to his horse who only glanced up at him in response. Putting pressure on his side, David veered the large warmblood into the pasture only simply letting him walk around in circles to give him a breather. Glancing back once more he saw his sibling, Elise, running back home.

As Roper came blasting back into the barn, he went right between Kylie's legs and leaped into the muck barrow. "Roper! Get out of there!" Kylie reprimanded. The puppy jumped out of the barrow and came pouncing over to his owner, throwing himself down on her boots. Ky picked him up and began walking back to the house, checking each stall as she walked by to make sure it was clean.

Travis smiled at the text from Marissa. Okay cool. I'll see you an hour. And no, my parents are going to the rodeo tonight. So it's just us kids. :) He had time to take a shower, but all he was doing was driving her to work. He would simply spray on some Axe, then take a real shower later before the party. So he did just that, then walked downstairs to the kitchen to grab something to eat. He found some Easy Mac in the cabinet and began fixing it for himself.

Jake, usually an early riser woke up to his cell phone ringing and vibrating on the head board above him.

groggily he opened his eyes and grabbed the black flip phone and flipped it open.

It was from kylie. He fumbled with his fingers sending a text that read: Hey, wow sorry i woke up late, not much up with me taking rocky for a ride as soon as i get up and get ready, care to join me?"

Jake hit send and bounced out of bed, threw on a white t-shirt and his wrangler jeans and left his hair as it was aside from fixing the strays.

Jake twisted his head to check in his sisters room, she wasn't there so he headed to the barn after slipping his feet into his boots.

Jake met his sister Taylor down at the barn sweeping the aisle of their parents small 6 stall classic red barn. "Lazy much?" Taylor commented as her brother ran into the barn. "I fed and mucked my horses stall mom and dad mucked theres, rocky is awaiting you to muck his, you get to sweep up after too" Taylor nagged "yeah yeah i know, what are your plans today?" Jake asked as he let his horse out into the adjoined paddock and rocky happily trotted out. "Well, the flints are having a party at their place today and im going to that, im going to ride today and maybe find someone to hang out with until then" Taylor commented as she put the broom away and watched her brother muck out the stall. "ok, im waiting on a text from Kylie and then im coming to that party as well" Jake said as he quickly mucked out the stall and wheeled the wheelbarrow out and to the pile on the northside of the barn

"Ah, i see and what are you and Kylie up too?" Tay asked with a smirk

"riding possibly? i dont know" Jake answered

Kiara and Kovu came bounding into the barn and sat at Taylor's heels. "Imma go sit outside" Taylor told her brother as she walked out of the barn.

"I'll come"Jake said as he finished sweeping his mess and followed her outside.

Feeling her phone vibrate in her pocket, Kylie pulled it out and smirked at who it was from. "Finally," she mumbled to herself, laughing quietly. Her fingers moved quickly and easily across the keypad. i'd love to. i'll ride september up to your house. be there in about ten. After pressing send, Kylie called through the house to her brother. "I'm going to ride up to Jake's house, I'll see you in a while." With that, she turned on her heel and made her way back out to the barn. Grabbing the tuquoise halter and matching lead that hung on September's stall, she jogged to the gate and called for the horse. He picked up his head and came cantering over, happy to see his rider and probably hoping she had treats. Kylie slid the halter over September's ears and let him inside, closing the gate behind them and quickly tying the horse to it. He stood patiently as the girl walked briskly into the tack room and grabbed her western tack. Tossing a turquoise and black saddle pad over his back, Kylie put on her barrel saddle and tightened the cinch. Pulling on the horse's turquoise and black nylon bridle, she led him out of the barn and checked the cinch one more time before mounting. Roper bounced around September's feet, causing the horse to prance nervously. "Roper, get!" Kylie commanded firmly before setting off at a trot down the driveway.

About five minutes later, September loped casually down the Walsh's drive. "Hey Taylor." Kylie greeted the girl as she pulled her gelding down to a walk and then a halt in front of the barn. September had been there many times before, which was why he stood so calmly. "Is J- Oh hey, Jake," she said, her eyes twinkling, as she saw the boy mucking out his horse's stall.

Taylor waved and pointed to where her brother was and headed back to the house, dogs in tow.

Just as jake saw kylie he got the text, "lovely, my phone is being a snail today with my texts" jake commented

A smile ran across jake's face as he put Rocky's halter on him and walked the horse out and tied him to his paddock.

"Hey ky, be with ya in a sec, i gotta go grab his tack" Jake said as he turned on his heels and walked briskly to the barn and grabbed his horses english tack, a few brushs and a cookie for him and a sugar cube for September.

Jake returned to where his horse and kylie were and quickly brushed the straw and dirt off his horse and threw his hunter green saddle pad on that had Rocky's name embroidered in it "Whiskey on the rocks" He then threw on his sheepskin pad and his stubben saddle and matching girth with the fuzzy linnig on it. "sorry hun, im running so behind today, im rarley like this" jake told kylie as he gave his horse a cookie and september the suger cube and bridled rocky quickly.

Stirrups already at his length he shoved his hands in his gloves and put his GPA helmet on and hoped on Rocky's back.

"ready?" he asked with a smile

Kylie waited patiently for Jake, trotting around in small circles in front of the barn to get her horse loosened up. When Jake immerged from the tack room, she stopped and put September in park. She smiled brightly to herself as Jake spoke up, calling her 'hun'. "It's alright. I was a little bored this morning after I mucked out Banjo's stall, which is why I got here so fast," she replied, giving September a pat before asking him to walk next to Rocky. Kylie waited for a few moments to see if Jake had anything to say.
