Any Thoughts On This Saddlebred Filly?

Recommended Posts

To me her front legs are severely over at the knee, her hip is way too short and her stifle/gaskin area looks weak. It might be the photo but her neck looks too short for her head.

How old is this filly though? 'Cause a lot of youngsters look really awful in a growing stage. I don't like the look of her legs at all though and I doubt that they will change too much!

As far as her sire producing champions, etc. ; he's only half the equation. I would bet that the "champion

quality" get of the stud are out of really nice mares - if this filly isn't then she won't be the same quality as her half siblings.

If you are planning to get into a new breed it would probably be a good idea to go to some shows and see what kind of conformation is considered correct for that breed and what is winning. Otherwise you could be at the mercy of someone trying to make you think you're getting a great deal on an animal that isn't the quality you'd like to own.

Good luck!
