Who's Breeding This Year?

Recommended Posts

My fianc?e has decided that his "first horse" is going to be out of Candy. He is in love with that horse... he'd probably be happy if I gave her to him haha. but thats not happening so she is going to get bred to a paint stud for a 2012 colt. My fianc?e is very excited and I am really happy that he is getting interested in horses. He wants to do everything (with my help of course) with the foal!!

I am still "beating around the bush" if I want to breed Lady or not. She will be bred to the same stud. The reason I am wanting to get her bred now is because we plan on starting our own family in a few years and will not have time for a new foal. anyways...

Candy- she is 6 years old. this will be her 2nd foal. She lost her first to unknown reasons.

Candy as a baby-

Candy now 6 years old

Lady is Candys mother and she is 10 years old. This will be her 2nd foal as well.

Lady- 2 years old

I have 2 of my own I'll be breeding and a few outside mares.

First I have PP No Chip Marks (lucky Diamond Chip is her sire) she's under lights now so hoping to breed next month for an early 2012 foal, (covered and bred, if she took she'll be due first week of January 2012, since she went 350 days last foal probably more like mid Januarey)

here she is with her 2010 colt at an equine trade show

she's been shown halter, w/p, english hunter o/f and ultimate cowboy trail,

the other is my Thoroughbred mare Explosive Amy, won 1/4 million on track with nice bloodlines

32078_10150213190780192_512275191_13248008_3881000_n.jpg

both will be bred to our APHA stallion Coosas Calico Kid

I will be breeding my appendix AQHA mare Peppy Sue Aly to AQHA stallion Tinsel Nic in May or June since she is not under lights. She is 12 years old and this will be her first foal. I am super excited.

Arious has never been shown but she is an awesome trail and all-around horse. She did the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo trailride and parade last year. She goes hog hunting, does trailrides, rodeo, jumping, barrels, and also rides english. She has good bloodlines with Peppy San and Alydar on her papers.

I will be breeding as well this year: Here's the lineup for 2011 breeding season

Neveahs Choice - As part of the deal we made with her old owner, she is getting the first foal from her. She is picking the stallion, I think she has chosen Iron Age but I'm not sure. (she wants a baby from royal too at some point, but I have a daughter of his from her and we are going to do the same thing with her in a few years. She only wants one baby at a time LOL)

63572_983491029420_48922377_54324586_3099485_n.jpg

Anywho the lineup going to Royal Invitation

African Mimosa -- The plan is to re breed her but it totally depends on how she comes through this foal she is having this spring. As long as everything goes well, and she is doing well, we will rebreed her. She is not happy unless she is a mom, she tries to steal babies from everyone else.

29228_726147618001_81003571_42817297_4803130_n.jpg

Inches to Spare - she will be re breed this year after she foals (providing everything goes well)

29228_726148201831_81003571_42817348_6891223_n.jpg

Lady Marianne - She has had babies before but this is the first time I am breeding her. I am very excited for this because I have always wanted to breed her. I have had her for 7 years, but when I got Val in foal, and I could only afford one foal a year, she took priority. I will be done my second degree this spring, so hopefully I will get a real job and make really money LOL!

26692_728162290581_81003571_42919883_2443234_n.jpg

Another Vallentina - We will try to rebreed her but it will be tight, she is not foaling until June.

6092_813507956860_48922377_47429461_5862702_n.jpg

And of course one of Royal for good measure:

I plan on breeding my mare and an outside mare (a friends) to my stallion. There might be a possiblitly of my dad's mare being bred as well, but I'm still on the fence about that.

I might breed these 2 this year ...

Stud:

66954_1660409436377_1421424231_31744554_4066006_n.jpg

Mare:

27768_1469038772230_1421424231_31266860_6963154_n.jpg

He's Skipper W/Doc Tari bred. Never shown but proven thru his get and his attitude and training. She's a daughter of Nu Bars Bueno, out of a King Fritz/Docs Dee Bar mare. For those of you that know Jake, she is his 1/2 sister (same dam).

I'm just not sure I want to or not yet. I am going to have the neighbor collect Skipper this spring and test his semen for motility and such as I would like to freeze a few straws for the future. Skipper is now 18, so he isn't getting any younger!

I'm claiming that baby!!!!!!!!! Andi that foal is mine, and I will pick it up when I can visit later this year.

Also, if Skipper collects good, I wouldn't mind a straw.

:happy0203:

I'm thinking a cross with Snickers and Skipper would be stellar! But whether I do it or not this year depends on a lot of factors in my life right now ...

You can be sure there will be LOTS of pictures if it happens!

Desputed-I must say, your Lady Marianne is absolutely stunning! Your Vallentina also reminds me of my mare as well! Must be the bay! All your horses are beautiful though.

Thank you. I really love her and i cant wait for a foal out of her. Val has 11 siblings so maybe they are related? She is by general mito.

Well, apparently *I* have the only HC "Jr" baby... & well, she's not quite old enough to breed, if I want to keep my status as "NOT a BYB", lol!

Tequila, aka "HC Dun Bein Koy" as of today, the coldest day of the winter~!

I am SERIOUSLY considering breeding my quarter pony mare this spring to Stars morab's palomino Overo stud.

If you search, I'm sure you can find a pic of Thor... so here's a current pic of my fat little pony.

59234_493582070619_572140619_6980873_1587407_n.jpg

Oh. Wait. That would be considered BYB of an unwanted GRADE baby, right?

Nope. American Paint Pony... as Star is registered as an American Quarter Pony, qualified in WSCA Games in several events with her prev. owner, & 6 events with us.

So, back yard worthless trash. Sad part? I can sell the grade resulting foal for 4 times what I can sell our HC baby for.

^^^ I think that would make a great cross. Gorgeous baby out of that cross. Thor is nice and ur mare is gorgeous!!

I have been debating to breed Twinkie this year..If I do It will be with this guy.

http://alaskaquarterhorse.com/Stallion2.html

He throws beautiful babies. Looks much beefer in person as most of her pictures of him are older ones as a young stallion. I looked at him last year and was more impressed with him than what the pictures show..It seems that he is a dirt roller and getting pictures of him CLEAN and spotless is very few and in between. She had him retested since UC Davis results were for cremello , but since he has had nothing but buckskin foals she has had him retested and he is a Homozygous Perlino and has changed his status with the AQHA. So nothing but buckskins from this guy but spots would be nice..I can double register the foal which is a plus.

The two together would also produce a foal with a 1.49% line breeding coefficient in 8 generations.

Top six Main stallions in its line-breeding would be:

Dry Doc...15.47%

King.........10.16%

King Fritz..14.10%

Doc Bar.....8.3%

Power Commnad...9.77%

Poco Bueno..9.47%

The foal would also be 83% foundation quarter horse breeding...So many just breed for color without considering that Most paints have unknown parentage. I'm pleased with how Gunny has turned out by using a papered quarter horse with similar breeding to Twinkies papered APHA.

I really hope they will N4L.. [Jump] They are very similar in body style and breeding. He has great conformation. I want to breed for a performance horse that can excel for the local games we have or western pleasure. So many APHA people just breed for color and only color. I want to keep the Quarter horse aspect in the foals breeding on the high end and get a well balanced horse when they mature. Its a plus that I'll get just a buckskin out of him.. and I would be lying if I said it didn't add to my decision .

There is another I kinda like but he hasn't been tested for LWF yet. Twinkie is a carrier.

http://tripleabpaints.webs.com/quincymagicalcowboy.htm

Which one would you choose?? Thats if his statice is LWF negative

That's a difficult choice--they're both nice. Of course, it depends on the LWF status though.

I emailed the owner of the buckskin overo to see if she has had him tested...I never realized that he too has had nothing but buckskin foals... [Question] Hmmmm....I better look him up on APHA

I can throw up a couple pictures of Thor. We aren't breeding him to any of our mares this year, I think just a couple outside mares. I can imagine Star and Thor would make a mighty stocky and nice cross.
