Breeding A Quarter Horse

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody. I was recently told that people are no longer aqllowed to breed quarter horses or thoroghbreds via embryonic transfer, artificial insemination, or to a non registered horse. Is this true? Not looking into breeding just curious. :)

The Jockey Club (TB registry), will not, and has never, registered foals resulting from embryo transfer or breeding by shipped semen. And of course, they don't register crossbreds. Obviously, that doesn't mean that any of the above activities are not allowed -it's a free country! You just can't register the baby with the JC. AQHA definitely still allows shipped semen, embryo transfer and cross breeding to registered TB's only. Breeding to a non-registered horse will result in a foal that isn't registerable, just as it always has.
