Temperature And Mares Heat Cycle

Recommended Posts

Has anyone noticed that their mares are not comming in to heat this summer due to thehigh temps? I have 3 mares and not a one has been in heat since the temp has been so high. I know this should prolly be in horse health but figured more people that breed might notice more.

Haven't noticed a thing... My mare is in season right now, has a foal at side and she has been like clockwork. We were up to heat indexs of 110 last week too.

Are you sure they aren't just "silent"? I mean with the heat I dont have enough energy to be pissy either... :surrender:

Not SHOWING signs of heat means nothing in regards to them actually having BEEN in season. Temperature has nothing to do with heat cycles, daylight length dictates cycling. Just because you didn't see it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
