Barrel Raceing Lesson 2

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the information. This is very helpful. I find it very useful as I also own a horse and I was searching for such information. I like to read it and will use it. This is a very good thing about the discussion.

I used to run games, and still see them at local all breed open type shows.

The most important thing i often see missing, is people not getting body control on their horses first, and instead jerk that horse around those barrels or poles with a strong bit and tight reins, plus often a tie down

I would run them just if going for hi point, on a horse that I showed in reining, cattle work and western riding

Because they were broke in the body, I could run games in a plain. snaffle

Good idea to use them in many events, and I would add some slow precision type events, like trail and horsemanship, so the horse does not think every time he enters that ring, he is going to be going for broke, with many games horses associating the arena with being janked on and spurred, tot he point they refuse to enter the arena.

Kids esp should learn horsemanship, before ever running games<JMO
