New Foal On The Farm

Recommended Posts

The only foal I am expecting for the year came this week. My black and white pony mare foaled a solid buckskin filly out of my Buckskin Tobiano APHA stallion. I am pretty excited about what the future holds for this little gal. According to the measurement from her hoof line to the middle of the knee, she should mature to around 12 hands. I don't know how accurate that is, though. Her sire is more performance bred, so the hope is that she makes a barrel and pole pony.

Hoku, the "down in the pasterns" appearance is very, very common. Typically with a few days to "unfold" and bear weight, the tendons will tighten up just fine.

Thank you, cvm. I really wasn't sure how to answer hoku.

These pics were taken on day one. She is finally showing her personality today. She was running and bucking around this evening. She is also really filling out now. She's already my little darling.

Okay! I had seen it before but couldn't remember a name for it or if it resolved itself. She must be a little pistol. Do you have a name or nickname for her yet?
