Support for a Scarred Hoof

Recommended Posts

I have a 1/2 TB 1/2 QH who has a scarred hoof on his left front hoof. It causes the heel to have a slight inward curve. We were shoeing his fronts for stability to help with the integrity of the hoof. BUT this guy is not like any of our other horses. He kicks off his shoes. We are thinking of putting boots on him when he is being worked. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Here are some images of the scar. The vet says it is really just cosmetic, but the inward curve of the heel is what gives me a little cause for concern.

Oak, you need to post pictures of his foot using the  instructions in the sticky at the top of the hoof page. And then maybe PM missyclare so she will check in and help you.

Yup, what jubal said, lol! Out of the grass, cleaned up, front shot, heel shot, solar shot, side shot and definitely a shot from the back. His hoof looks like its got a decent trim on there, from what I can tell and it also looks like it healed beautifully.
