Horse height

4 posts in this topic

We recently bought a paint and was told it just turned 3. Turns out we were lied to and it is actually 4 1/2 years old. It stands 13.3 currently however both parents were mid 15. I am extremely worried we will not get the height out of it her that we expected. I do not believe it had the best care and was under feed. What if anything can anyone suggest that I do to try to bring it around.  Within 2 weeks we are already seen a change in overall looks and behavior.

Not much you can do except make sure she's getting a good balanced diet and enough exercise. It's also possible she had different sire/dam than you were told.

Horses grow and mature til they are 5 or 6, and some lines are late bloomers. Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Is she butt-high at all?  The barrel height of a horse is one of the last to grow and if her withers are downhill from her rump, she could still grow to meet the height you want.
