Arabian back from trainers lame

Recommended Posts

My 5 1/2 year old arabian came back from the trainers lame. The farrier checked it out and said he cut his frog. I have soaked it epsom salt 3 times a day for the past 5 days. I was wondering how long does it take for a frog to heal. My farrier said it was ok to do some light lunging and keep soaking it. But this was 2 days ago. I started to lunge him a little I got him to do one complete circle and he started to limp again not real bad,but enough to notice his hoof was still bothering him. Of course my Vet is on Vacation so I thought I would come to horsecity for some advice. I noticed his frog is shedding, looks pretty good.

hm. Not sure how long that would take to heal...but if I were you, I would just keep soaking it. maybe call another vet and just ask. But I wouldn't lunge or ride until he's sound. Wouldn't want to risk injuring him more or anything, ya know?
